Putnam County Technical Center will host an open house on Thursday, January 20th from 4:30-6:30. Students and parents will be able to see programs and meet instructors and the administration. This is a fantastic opportunity to see PCTC in action and participate in all that your student will be offered there. The focused, hands-on programs at PCTC allow students to acquire skills in high school that are life changing. Students begin attending PCTC in their junior year, but all students and parents are welcome. Please plan to attend this important event!

Congratulations to Yesinia Silva, Winfield’s Five-Star General for December. Teachers nominated Yesinia for her outstanding work ethic and her desire to help others. Yesinia translates for non English-speaking students in her classes, and recently, she lead a group of students compliments project where words of kindness and encouragement were left around the school for all to see! Marshall University will be in the WHS Commons for their spring visit on Wednesday, February 3rd at lunch time. Any senior who wants to apply on this visit can get the $40 application fee waived. Be sure to speak to the representative to get all the information you need to begin your new chapter at Marshall University.
Winter Formal tickets are on sale this week during the 2nd half of lunch. Tickets cost $15 for one and $25 for two tickets. Out of School Guest forms are due in the office by Wednesday, January 5th. These are available in the office and an out of school guest will not be allowed in without one. The dance will be held this Saturday, January 8th in the main gym from 8 to 11pm.
Coach Smolder will be having a football player meeting on January 2nd at 6:30pm in the High School commons. It is for returning players, anyone interested in playing and current eighth graders. There will also be a parent meeting at 7.

Attention Seniors: You must place your graduation cap and gown order by Monday, December 20th to get the lower price. Students that place orders after Monday will have to pay a higher shipping fee. Also, if you want to order invitations through Jostens, those orders must be placed by Monday to get the nicer invitation that is embossed. Congratulation to Nick Lanham on his acceptance to the US Naval Academy! Naval Academy admissions is extremely selective with an acceptance rate of 8%. Students that get into Naval Academy have an average SAT score between 1240-1460 or an average ACT score of 26-32.
Winfield High School is proud to announce that Sophomore, Kennedy Schilling, has been chosen as our representative to attend the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Seminar which will be held at Marshall University in June. Congrats, Kennedy!
Winfield will hold its Retro Disco Winter Formal January 8, 2022, from 8 to 11 in the main gym. Outside guest forms are now available in the office. These forms must be turned in no later than January 4, 2022. Tickets will go on sale during the second half of lunch, January 3rd-7th. Tickets will be $15 for individual tickets and $25 for couple tickets.
Mrs. Davis is hosting an all-inclusive, international educational tour to Costa Rica in the summer of 2023.
